All Dressed Up...and Other Pictures of the Fall

The kids dressed up this year in their choice of costumes, all except for Jude. He just had to wear what we had :) We walked around the neighborhood a bit to collect candy. It was in the upper 30s, so at the end we drove around in the van, just to a few houses of church members.

Leah wanted to wear her Sleeping Beauty dress that Grandma Ann and Grandpa Ron had given her last Christmas with her tiara and sparkly silver shoes.

Leah is 4 and is all girl, loving anything to do with pink and princesses. I have a feeling this will be a theme in her life for awhile. :) She is learning to read and often calls Kirk or I over to her, asking, "What does this word say?" She loves to cuddle her little brother but he doesn't always want to be hugged and squeezed the way she likes to do to him! PreK3 at Riverside Christian is going well, and she and her little friends enjoy their teachers, Miss Penman and Mrs. Thorsell. She tells me they do a lot of singing and twirling to praise songs, but she can never quite remember anything else about her day :)

Will originally told me he wanted to be a farmer. I had lost our John Deere cap, so I searched high and low for one, busily calling the farmers' wives in our congregation to see if they had one, finally finding some. Then when Will got home from school he decided he wanted to be a baseball player instead! It actually worked out well since we had all of the costume elements already at our house.

Will is almost 7! He loves first grade, often telling me the imaginative games he and his friends play at recess. He really loves gym, especially playing "line soccer", as he calls it, where they have to kick the ball over the line for a goal.

His favorite thing to do on the weekends is play outside and listen to Adventures in Odyssey podcasts on the iPod (it's a Christian radio program for kids). Will is still my big helper around the house!

My friend Jill borrowed a cozy frog costume to Jude and he looked so cute! He's 18 months old now and a very very busy boy! He likes to climb on the table, climb up on the laundry basket and watch cars go by out the front window and sit on the chair and attempt to color with crayons.

He says "dada", "quack quack", "woof, woof", "bah" (for "bye"), and "eeyow" (for "meow"). He also likes to blow kisses, signs "more", "please" and "help" and run back and forth down the hallway, inviting us to chase him while he laughs loudly.

Here are a few more pictures from the last couple of months:

At Camp FaHoCha, our district Bible camp near Devils Lake. We were having the water balloon/water gun fight on a nice hot day!

We took our first family vacation (as in, just our immediate family) to my aunt and uncle's lake cabin near Darwin, MN. It was so much fun and we really enjoyed the relaxing time, unplugged from the world. We were glad to see some friends while we were there too!

The beginning of the school year ushered in another busy season of life.

First day of first grade!
