California

I'm sure most of you read the post about our plane taking off late for California back on April 11. It actually worked out quite well, because William was able to take a nap before we left for the airport. There was NO line at the airport when we were checking in, which made things much, much easier than they could have been. Will was very good on the flight and we arrived in San Francisco at 10:00 pm central time. We didn't get back to the house we were staying at until 12:30 CT, so William was rather exhausted and went right to bed (so did we). Here's a "journal" of our trip to CA.

We stayed at a guest house of a couple that lives out in the country near Salinas, CA. Salinas is where our friends Andy & Monica live. It was an 1890's farmhouse that had been updated and was very charming and roomy for just the three of us. The scenery around us was beautiful!

While the weather is typically between 65 and 70 degrees (and sunny almost all the time!), it got up to 92 on the mainland and about 80 by the beach, where we went with the kids on Saturday. The water was really, really cold, so they liked playing in the sand better.

Kirk and I got to go on a date to the Monterey and Carmel area of CA, home of the famous Pebble Beach golf course. We didn't go there, but we did tour Fisherman's Wharf and ate at the Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory on Cannery Row. While we were gone, Monica & Andy took the kids to the park and they played "baseball" :)

Doesn't he look tough? :)

More tomorrow!
